Terms of service

1. Who we are

SBK Repairs is a trading name of SBK Repairs. Our workshop is at Launceston, Cornwall, PL15. You can contact us at repairs@sbkdirect.co.uk.

2. What these terms cover

These terms apply when you book a mail-in repair through this website. Your contract is with us once we show your booking reference. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

3. Prices

The price shown when you book is the price you pay for the repair you chose, with parts and labour included. We're not VAT registered, so no VAT is added. If we find a different or extra fault once we open your phone, we'll contact you with a price before doing anything more. We won't charge for anything you haven't agreed to.

4. Sending your phone to us

You arrange and pay for getting your phone to us, either by post or by booking a courier collection. Please use a tracked and insured service, pack it securely, and include your booking reference. Your phone is your responsibility until it reaches us, and we can't accept responsibility for anything lost or damaged in the post on the way to us. Remove your SIM card and case before sending.

You must own the phone or have the owner's permission to have it repaired, and it must not be reported lost or stolen. We may check the IMEI and won't repair a phone that is blocked or reported stolen.

4a. Delays

Royal Mail and couriers can be delayed by things outside our control, such as strikes, bad weather or busy periods. Any repair or delivery times we give are estimates, not guarantees, and we aren't responsible for delays caused by carriers or other events outside our reasonable control. We'll keep you updated if your repair is held up.

5. The repair

We'll carry out the repair with reasonable care and skill, using the type of part you chose. Third-party parts are good-quality replacements but are not made by the phone manufacturer. iPhones show an "unknown part" message in Settings after a non-Apple screen or battery is fitted; this does not affect how the phone works. Some features that depend on the original part, such as True Tone, may not work after a third-party screen is fitted.

After any repair we can't guarantee your phone's water resistance. Phones with liquid damage, previous repairs or hidden faults may not be repairable, or may develop other faults. If we can't repair your phone, there's nothing to pay for the repair and we'll post it back.

6. Your data

Please back up your phone and factory reset it before you send it. You can leave Find My (or your Google account) on, so Activation Lock stays in place and only you can set the phone up again. If you can't reset it, for example because the screen doesn't work, you agree that we will wipe it as part of the repair and it will be returned to you reset. We don't need your passcode and we won't look at your personal content. We aren't responsible for data loss.

7. Paying and returning your phone

When your repair is finished we'll send you a payment link. We post your phone back once it's paid, using a tracked service at no extra cost. If payment isn't made within 14 days of us telling you it's ready, we'll send reminders. Under the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977, if a phone remains unpaid for and unclaimed for 90 days after our final written notice, we may sell or recycle it to recover what we're owed, and we'll account to you for any balance.

7a. Signing the repair agreement

When you book, we ask you to read and sign a short repair agreement summarising these points. We keep a copy with your booking and you can download your own.

8. Your right to cancel

Because you book online, you have 14 days from booking to cancel. If you cancel before we start work, we'll post your phone back. If you asked us to start the repair within those 14 days, you'll lose the right to cancel once the repair is complete. If you cancel part-way through, we may charge for work already done. To cancel, email us with your booking reference.

9. Warranty

Every repair comes with a 6‑month warranty from the date we post it back, covering the parts we fitted and our work. It doesn't cover accidental damage, liquid damage, or damage caused by someone else working on the phone after us. If a covered fault appears, contact us with your booking reference and we'll repair or replace the part free of charge, including return postage. You can check your warranty on the Track a repair page.

10. Our responsibility to you

If we fail to follow these terms, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our failure or negligence. We're not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable, or for business losses. We don't exclude liability where it would be unlawful to do so. Our total liability for a repair is limited to the value of the phone at the time it was sent to us.

11. Complaints and law

If something isn't right, email us and we'll do our best to sort it out quickly. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
